Uganda, Africa - Humanitarian Aid - Volunteering Opportunities

ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION
Kampala, Uganda: There are five host organisations to chose from in Uganda - Caritas Kampala, VC Uganda Office, Kiyinda Mityana, FOHO Street Children Project, and BMCTI. In Caritas Kampala volunteers will work on socio ecomonic issues and gender issues such as women's health, sustainable agriculture, justice and peace, and cooperatives. In Kiyinda Mityana volunteers will work in education across the 390 schools and focus on health programmes for girls assisting them to remain in education. In FOHO a community based organisation volunteers will work alongside street children and vulnerable youth and other target groups such as slum dwellers, teenage mothers and drug addicts. In BMCTI a Counsellor Training institute volunteers will support the overall servcies as well as support the provision of psychosocial support to Elderly members of the population. In Viatores Christi Kampala office the voluneer will support the work of the VC locally and international.
ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS
On arrival all volunteers will be collected and transported to the VC Kampala office by the local ESC Co-ordinator Rose Salaama Bavuga. They will remain in Kampala while receiving their induction, training and orientation. The Kampala office is located on the same street as the U.S. embassy and the Caritas office is located nearby. Volunteers deployed to rural desitinations with be trasported to their destinations. All host organisations have been visited and audited by the CEO of the VC and meet the required standards in terms of accomodations, food and access to utilities.
TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY
Viatores Christi is a renowed training organisation in the humanitarian field. They have designed and delivered courses in collaboration with leading academics and scholars in the sector. The volunteers of Viatores Chirist will have free, unlimited access to all these training programmes and modules while on placement. You will avail of them online, at your own discretion. These will contribute not only to your knowledge of Development and Humanitarian Aid giving you a advantage in your career, but also contribute towards your ESC HAND EUPass in the short-term.
PARTICIPANT PROFILE
The type of volunteer that would benefit from volunteering with VC is enthusiastic, optimistic, resilient, used to adversity and adjusts well to new and sometimes unfamiliar experiences. Uganda is an amazing place and a unique opportunity and it is important that you are prepared to get the most of the opportunity by giving it your all and working well with those around you. Volunteers that do well in Uganda are open, conscientious, extraverted, agreeable and get on well with other as well as being self-starters and comfortable working from their own initiative.

Chase Your Dreams

Chase Your Dream is Erasmus+ youth mobility event is set to host 36 participants from 6 program countries with diverse backgrounds in this context. The aim is to foster intercultural dialogue and help young people find the right career development opportunities by working together. Career choice is a challenging issue faced by young people at an early age. They often struggle to determine the right profession, and even after selecting one, they may be uncertain if it is the right choice for them. To achieve success in their chosen careers, young people must be able to raise questions and receive answers. This is the general problem that our project searching for alternative solutions together with our partner organizations. Our objectives in the project is to;- provide 36 participants with comprehensive information about different professions and career paths available to them.

- help 36 participants assess their current career stage and identify their strengths and weaknesses.


- foster a mindset that encourages informed career decision-making and personal growth among young people in partner communities.


- equipping 36 participants with motivation strategies that promote both short and long-term satisfaction in their chosen careers.

ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION
Welcome to the vibrant and dynamic House of Generations! In our institution, we provide diverse social services, to residents spanning various age groups. Our organization is home to around 40 elders harmoniously and 11 young, resilient mothers and their children who add boundless energy to our community. We also operate as a Day Center for the elderly organizing a variety of interesting and engaging activities. If you decide to join us as a volunteer, you'll be at the heart of it all. We provide the opportunity to participate in activities tailored to our diverse clientele. From tending to the needs of our beloved elders to teaching those new languages and computer skills, your impact will be felt throughout the center. And for our young mothers, you'll be a guiding light, imparting invaluable domestic skills and easing the demands of daily life. You'll be part of a team that creates unforgettable events and empowers
ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS
You will receive a private room in a shared flat with other international volunteers. We will also cover public transportation costs in the city. Volunteers also receive monthly food and pocket money.
TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY
Volunteering group meetings once a month. Monthly meetings and support from a mentor. Participating in on-arrival and mid-term training. Learning the Lithuanian language through OLS. Participation in events organized by our organization Patria.

Welcome to Latvia in European Solidarity Corps volunteering project!

The main task is to organize creative workshops, cultural exchange, etc. The aim will be to organize an English Language club for local residents and refugees from Ukraine through activities.

ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORTATION ARRANGEMENTS

Travel expenses are covered depending on the distance to Latvia. Travel expenses in the project are covered up to 50 Euros per month. Food allowance is 6.50 euros per day. Pocket money 5 euro/day (approximately 150/month)
Living expenses are covered by the project.

TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY

You will have training on arrival and mid-term training. Support from the sending organization and the host organization throughout the entire project.

With this project we would like to send the message to the youngsters that by becoming polyglots, they will be in position easy to overcome every economical obstacle. It doesn’t matter the social background or the current situation, being a polyglot is a power that opens every door for you. General speaking, being a polyglot brings an opportunity for a better and more fulfilled life. The question of how many languages is important for youngsters to learn depends of the individual, but it is always better to be safe than sorry. You can never know when the next opportunity will come along. If someone is not prepared, he/she is running the risk of being left behind or losing valuable opportunities. It is a wide spread myth that learning new languages it is complicated and difficult thing to do.

Who can apply?
We are searching for 5 participants + 1 Team Leader from each out of four countries (Poland, N.Macedonia, Lithuania, Croatia, Malta). The only requirements we have are:
- 18-30 years old (TL can be 18+)
- good knowledge of English.

enhance the communication skills of young people within the European Union. The project

communication, dealing with different interpersonal situations, and overcoming shyness or
fear of speaking to strangers.
Career Development: Effective communication skills are crucial for career development. In
today's job market, employers value teamwork and effective communication with clients,
colleagues, and superiors. The project seeks to equip young people with these skills to help
them secure and retain employment.
Teamwork and Collaboration: Another goal of the project is to improve young people's
ability to work in teams. Good communication skills are critical for effective collaboration
and achieving common goals.
Cross-Cultural Communication: Given the increasingly globalized world, the project intends
to help young people communicate effectively with individuals from diverse cultural
backgrounds. This includes understanding different communication styles, interacting with
people from various countries and age groups, and preparing for job interviews.
Promoting Equality and Tolerance: The project seeks to promote equality and tolerance by
educating and training young people on diversity and equality issues.

INTRODUCT ION

EU are not alone

Welcome to our youth exchange program, a journey dedicated to promoting
social inclusion, combating social isolation, and addressing the challenges of
loneliness among young people.

At the core of our initiative is the desire to identify individuals who are
negatively impacted by social isolation and loneliness, and provide them with
interventions that can improve their social well-being.

We aim to equip participants with psychological tools and coping strategies to
break the stigma associated with loneliness, foster empathy, and cultivate a
sense of belonging.

This youth exchange will bring together 41 young people from 6 countries
(Estonia, Sweden, Italy, Latvia, Poland, and Turkey).
